§ 2-423. Committee composition; term; officers.

(a)

The Committee shall be composed of nine (9) members appointed by the County Executive and subject to the confirmation by the County Council. Three (3) members shall be directly affiliated with the sand and gravel industry; three (3) members shall be citizens with no affiliation with the industry or local government; one (1) member shall represent the County Executive; one (1) member shall represent the County Council; and one (1) member shall represent the Department of Licenses and Permits. Members shall be selected so as to represent diverse geographic locations and a broad range of interests and associations.

(b)

The term of office for each member shall be for three (3) years; however, the terms of the initial appointments shall be staggered with five (5) members appointed to two (2) year terms and four (4) members appointed to three (3) year terms.

(c)

The committee members shall elect annually from its own membership a chairman and such other officers as it deems necessary. Technical support shall be provided by the County Council.
