Section C406.9. Hotels, motels, hospitals, restaurants, buildings with residential occupancies, buildings with laundry facilities or other high process service water heating needs or buildings showing a service hot water load of 10 percent or more of total building energy shall provide at least forty percent (40%) of hot water through instantaneous or tankless fuel-fired water heating systems, waste heat recovery from equipment or Combined Heat and Power (CHP), solar water heating systems.
